The image_link attribute defines the main product image shown in your Shopping ads and free listings. It plays a vital role in engaging users and demonstrating product value at a glance.
When to use
Submit one main image using image_link, and optional additional images using additional_image_link. The main image should clearly showcase the product with minimal distractions.
Format
- Type: URL (http or https)
- Limits: 1–2,000 characters
- File formats:
.jpg,.jpeg,.png,.gif,.bmp,.tif,.tiff,.webp - Repeated field: No
- Schema.org:

Best Practices
- Use a high-resolution image (1500x1500 or more)
- Show correct variant (e.g. color)
- Use full image framing: product covers 75–90% of canvas
- For clothing, show product worn by a person (no head/feet cropping)
- Show one product unless you’re using
is_bundle - Match your
image_linkto the variant in yourcolor,size, etc. attributes - Avoid group images unless items are sold together
