Required for ChatGPT
The store_country attribute defines the country where the seller or merchant is located.
This field is a core trust and eligibility signal for ChatGPT Shopping.
It allows AI systems to correctly interpret:
- legal context,
- tax and compliance assumptions,
- cross-border eligibility,
- shipping and return expectations.
If this field is missing or invalid, the product may not be eligible for ChatGPT-powered commerce experiences.
When to use
You must include this field for all products intended for ChatGPT Shopping.
Use the country where:
- the merchant is legally established, or
- the marketplace seller of record operates.
This is not the same as the customer’s country.
Customer targeting is handled via [target_countries].

[seller_name]and[seller_url]. - Do not use country names (e.g. “France”).

SEO / AI Tip
store_country helps ChatGPT:
- apply the correct regulatory assumptions,
- assess seller legitimacy,
- filter products based on geographic trust signals.
For international commerce, this field works together with:
[target_countries][shipping_price][seller_privacy_policy]
A missing or inconsistent store_country can silently exclude products from AI-driven shopping experiences.
