Optional for each product
The shipping_label attribute allows you to tag products with custom labels for configuring specific shipping rates or speeds in Merchant Center.
These labels are internal only and are never shown to customers.
Example uses include:
- Marking products as oversized for special freight rates.
- Flagging perishable goods for expedited delivery.
- Identifying items eligible for free shipping.
When to use
- To set unique shipping rules for specific product groups.
- To separate products for different delivery speeds or cost tiers.
- To override standard shipping logic with special conditions in Merchant Center.
You configure how each label behaves directly in Merchant Center’s shipping settings.
Format
- Type: Unicode characters (ASCII recommended)
- Length: Up to 100 characters
- Repeated field: No

Minimum requirements
- Use UTF-8 encoding to avoid invalid characters.
- Choose clear, descriptive labels for easy configuration in Merchant Center.
- Don’t include control, function, private area, surrogate pairs, or unassigned code points.
Products with invalid labels may be disapproved in Merchant Center.
