Product Length [product_length], Width [product_width], Height [product_height], and Weight [product_weight] Fields for Product Feed

Provide the exact physical dimensions and weight of your product to improve search accuracy, shipping calculations, and customer confidence.

Example of product dimensions and weight fields usage in a product listing

Optional for each product

The product_length, product_width, product_height, and product_weight attributes let you specify the physical measurements of your product.
Providing these values can help improve search relevance, set customer expectations, and enable accurate shipping rates.

When to use

  • To display accurate dimensions and weight in Shopping listings.
  • To improve discoverability for products where size or weight matters.
  • To assist in carrier-calculated shipping rates (use shipping_length, shipping_width, shipping_height, and shipping_weight for shipping package size).

Format

  • Type: Number plus measurement unit.
  • Supported units:
    • product_length, product_width, product_height: cm, in
    • product_weight: lb, oz, g, kg
  • Limits:
    • Length, width, height: 1–3000 (cm or in)
    • Weight: 0–2000 (lb, oz, g, or kg)
  • Decimals: Allowed for all units.
  • Repeated field: No
  • Schema.org properties:
    • Product.depthproduct_length
    • Product.widthproduct_width
    • Product.heightproduct_height
    • Product.weightproduct_weight

Formatting examples:

AttributeFile formatExample value
product_lengthText feed20 in
XML feed<g:product_length>20 in</g:product_length>
product_widthText feed40 in
XML feed<g:product_width>40 in</g:product_width>
product_heightText feed10 in
XML feed<g:product_height>10 in</g:product_height>
product_weightText feed3.5 lb
XML feed<g:product_weight>3.5 lb</g:product_weight>

Minimum requirements

  • Always pair the number with a valid unit.
  • Use the assembled product weight, including all components.
  • Don’t mix units for the same product’s dimensions (e.g., length in cm, width in in).
  • Avoid approximate or promotional text — only exact values are allowed.

Incorrect formats or missing units will cause disapproval in Merchant Center.

For ChatGPT product feeds, the equivalent attributes are length, width, height, and weight.
They follow the same logic and formatting as Google’s fields but are used within ChatGPT’s AI-powered commerce system to improve product understanding, size-based recommendations, and shipping estimation.
If your feed already includes the Google versions, you can reuse them directly for ChatGPT without any format changes.

SEO Tip

Accurate dimensions and weight can increase conversion rates by helping customers make informed decisions and reducing returns. This is especially valuable for large, heavy, or size-sensitive items.
